Eugene

This is going better than I thought the whole thing starts by there is a string attached to the celing and a golf ball taped to the end of the string and someone has to swing the golf ball and hit the marble witch then the marble will roll down a pice of PVC pipe and hit a spring then the spring tips a book over and then the book crushes an egg. Die eggs(:!

Tyler and Connor

Wednesday we shot off the project after doing some adjustments now its much more accurate.

Thursday we spent the day working on the catapult and came up with some new ideas that I think are gonna work well. The main problem we have is placement it takes time to set up and multiply shots to be preped and ready.

Not to mention the fact that that ruler smacked me in the face on the first test.

Louden, Zach, and Jacob

This week we have accomplished very much. We are so close to being don, and we have very little time left. All we need to do is make three more parts, and then the final spectacle. If we work hard, and with a bit of luck, we could pull this off in time. All we need to do is raise something by making a stand for it, then we need to make a little path for something to follow, then we need Zach to make a carnival style board with nails poking out for marbles to fall down. And after this, the only thing we need to do is make the final spectacle.

K,A,J, + R Blog Post (4)

We have only a couple sessions left, and our project is nearing completion. We only have a few major issues to resolve next week.
The beginning of our machine

Josh and Robby's Mechanism

Jared and Ian Rube Goldberg

We made a few more machines to our project and we came up with and ending to it.

We had a hard time getting the final part to hit the ending finale, it took roughly 10 tries to get it to work.

Next week we're gonna make little tweaks to our Rube Goldberg machine so it's close to perfection

Today we finally made some progress! We had all of our group here, so it was easier. Last week we got a PVC pipe filled with sand from mr. Alard. We are going to build a ramp out of wood for it to role down. (In the pic it's a mouse trap box, but we aren't using that). The PVC pipe will down the ramp and hit the cups that will cause the ball to roll down the tube and turn on the music. We have already made a plan about what we are going to do for more machines, we just have to put it together. I think the only trouble we are having is time. We don't have a lot of time left, and our machine has to work PERFECT. Hopefully the next time we work on our machines, I will have the ramp, and we can construct the other machines.

We are now making sure that our ending works. The rest works but we just need a couple of adjustments.

This week we are trying to get everything together and finish building the machine. We are EXTREMELY BEHIND so I'm going to stop writing the blog and help.

Here is a picture of all the wooden parts of our machine:

Louden, Zach, and Jacob

We have accomplished a lot this week. We have three machines up and working correctly already. Jacob has one complete part, I have two, and Zach has part of his first one done. I have the main construction of my machines done, but there are still minor changes I need to make, and also I need to make my second and third machines connect to two of Zach's machines. But since I personally have very little to do for my parts of the machine, I have been focusing on helping Jacob and Zach build and finish their machines. So far, almost everything works fine, sometimes parts don't work but we fix them after. I think we are behind a lot of groups, but now we have to really focus on getting everything built and gathering all of the materials we need. As for right now, Zach and I are planning to go down to the tech room next week to build his machines. When I am not in the tech room, I will focus on helping Jacob and Zach so that we can complete our Rube Goldberg. All we need is just to finish up making our machines, and get more cardboard. Lots of cardboard.

Today was kind of slow for us. We were missing a partner, and we don't have a lot of ideas. We got an idea to build the ending under a table for it to work properly, but we are having difficulties. We need a few more machines in the middle, and need to figure out how we are gonna get it to work under a table. We have two stacks of cups that are gonna get knocked over, and the bar will swing and hit the ball down the tube, but we need something to hit the cups over at the same time. I had an idea of using a dumbbell and rolling it, but I don't know if it will work. I'm a little skeptical about bringing it in. Next time, we need to figure out how we are gonna knock down the cups at the same time and think of more ideas we can do for more machines. We only need a few more!! Anyone got any ideas about what we can do and use??

Brody and Colton's project

This week we made to launchers, and we are working making it so that it will land the same place the same time every time which is difficult to happen. We are using an algerbra book because we want it to go close to five feet but right now it's like 10 feet when it goes so we are going to have to use less wait. We want the two to go of opposite way and then hit too differ rent things, but might have to change plans if it won't work.

Tyler and Connor V

Wednesday thru Friday we spent the time working on adjusting the project so it would fall at just the right angle to set off the launcher. It hasn't been easy. Although we have the entire planned laid out its this one part we are having trouble building off from.

Emily, Annika, & Hilary's Machine

This week we kept adding on to our machine. We made it so a bucket falls on a button an turns on the fan. The fan is on a skateboard so when it turns on it pushes itself across the room unrolling the paper. We're going to write something on it. We want to add an umbrella to our machine but we haven't figured out what it's going to do yet. The structure of our machine is pretty much done now we just have to go back and work on perfecting the accuracy so it works every time. We also need to work on perfecting our setup so it's as quick as possible. Our machine is going really well. I think we will finish on time and it will work good. We're really happy with how it turned out.

Hannah,Gabbi and Shelby

Lately we have worked on making our structures more sturdy, since they have been falling apart. We have also made a small zip line that a tiny person goes down for our finale. We plan to get together out of school soon to work on more machines.

Hunter Laroe Rube Goldberg

Today I made the next machine. It is triggered by the mouse trap. When the mouse trap is released it pulls the stick out and the ball thing rolls down. I am having trouble figuring out my next step. Tomorrow I will work on how the machine will continue.

Hayden Ben and Jordin

We have everything working 8 times out of ten. We need to now make the pre machine golf course. We are taking wood and making it up flat shaped. We will have the golf ball fall the hole and go onto our first part from there. We will either spray paint this part or we might line it with turf.

Mariah, Sara, and Kayla 4.0

This week we are going to keep trying to put things together and move forward since we don't have much time left. We need to make some serious progress. We're going to make a ramp that goes down and triggers the ricochet.

Below is a picture of our ramps

Hunter Laroe Rube Goldberg

I believe I have solved the problem of the car rolling off the ramp. You can't see it in this picture but I glued a thin piece of wood at the top and it seems to be working. Right now my problem is figuring out the next step. My blue prints are starting to look unrealistic. Hopefully this week I will construct the third machine so then I can get working on the finale.

I have all of the the components, so far made, attached together. I made a support post for the ramp and attached the bottom of it to where the mousetrap is mounted. I am having trouble keeping the car on the top and keeping the ball on the ramp. I also have no idea how the whole project will start. I am toying around with the idea of some sort of pulley system but I'm not yet sure. Next time I will try to make sure the ball will hit the target EVERY time.

K,A,J, + R (post 3)

This week we made a lot of progress. Josh and Robby completed the RC car-powered "ferris wheel." Adrienne's pulley system is nearly complete, and Kirsten has begun work on a swinging mechanism. We are working at a good pace.

Louden, Zach, And Jacob

Today me and Zach went down to the tech room while Jacob stayed and continued his construction on his parts of our machine. What Zach and I made, is two pieces of wood that are connected with a long nail. We plan to put a hole in the piece of wood on the right of the picture, and we will put that piece between the other two to make a sort of balance thing which will be used to start another section of our machine. We still have a lot of work to do, and we know we are running out of time. So we are still constructing as fast as we can, and we keep testing to make sure things work right, which they are so far. But something I see troubling about this balance, is that the pieces of wood are long, so we need to figure out how to make sure that we can get something high enough to weigh it down.

Emily, Annika, & Hilary

Today we extended our machine. We added a toaster, and a pipe/tubes to what we had. We experimented with a fan on a skateboard. It worked really well and looked cool. The fan turns on and pushes itself on the skateboard. We aren't sure what we're gonna use it for yet though so we still have some planning to do. But oversell we had a pretty successful day. We still need to bring in a few more materials and add a few more things but our machine works well.

Gabbi, Hannah and Shelby

We have been working on painting and constructing our Rube Goldberg machine. We have begun to make a windmill type structure that will dump the marble onto the marble track and send it down the ramp. We are planning to work on this more over the weekend and make more machines including toy cars, books falling, bells, and our grand finale.

Gracie, Megan, Loralee

Today we made a little progress. We figured out how to hold the bar back so when the ruler moves, the bar will swing and hit the ball down the tube. We are having trouble coming up with ideas of what else we can do for our machine. We don't have a lot of time left and I have a few ideas that I really want to try...... Right now we have a stack of cups on each side of the ball with a ruler across them. The bar on a string is held back behind the ruler, so when the ruler moves, the bar will swing and hit the balI...... really don't think the cups will work, though. They are not that sturdy and might not work multiple times.... I have an idea about what we can do, but I don't know if i will get the chance to try it.

Mariah, Sara, and Kayla's Machine 3.0

  1. Last week we made a lot of progress, we built the train part of our machine and brought in our ricochet, we figured out how to get the golf ball to roll down the ramp as well. This week we're going to try to assemble the rest of what we have.

  1. Wednesday:

we spent the day working on getting the hammer to fall at just the right angle to launch the machine. We had some trouble with it though getting it to work the hammer was and would be slamming into the machine and we didn't want it to break so we had to set it up with a protective layer.

    Thursday:

We spent the day doing NECAPS and we missed out on 15 minutes of work not really a big period missed. We spent the day working on support for the project.

    Friday:

We spent today balancing up tubes for support for the project so far everything is pretty easy
